In almost every video on quilting I have watched or on all the blogs I always see the question of what sewing machine do you use? Well let me tell you I started out using a Brother machine from Wal-mart that my mom had bought when I was in high school. About six years go I upgraded to a more professional computerized Brother. However just reciently I have gotten into emboriery and upgraded to a Babylock Altair. My first long arm was a sit down BabyLock Taira II which I loved (and some days I wish I had room enough to have her back!). I upgraded her to A Bablock Cornet and believe me there is nothing like having all that quiltig space. It gets you addicated quickly. I am expecting my APQS Freedom in a couple of weeks so I can do the Edge to Edge quilting for everyone!
But really the moral to this post is that IT DOESN"T MATTER. Get a machine you can afford!! because if want to sew then you will... to borrow the word's of Tim Gunn "Make it Work!". The point of quilting is to have FUN! Don't stress out over not having a Bernina or not having Babylock. I don't know a quilter that is a brand snoob. Some shops do ask you but that is because they are authroized dealers and make money on machines, or what to help you better. But honestly if they are a Quilt Shop they are happy to help no matter the machine!! Quilters tend to ask the type of machine so they can best answer your question. Don't ever feel embarressed by your machine, you are sewing, quilting, laughing and having fun and that is all that counts!
